KCEOC Aquatic Club Competes at the SE AAU Junior Olympics
Nine members of the KCEOC Aquatic Club competed this past week at the 2007 Southeast AAU Junior Olympics held at the University of Tennessee. This was the first time the team has competed in the Junior Olympics event. It was an exciting event for the team members and they were able to bring home medals for their efforts. The 13-14 girls also competed in four relay events and finished second in three and third in the fourth event.
The swimmers who went included 9 year old Lily Rafalski who swam in 5 events, 12 year old Alex Chumbley who swam 1 event, 13 year old Kate Rafalski who swam 3 events, 13 year old Leah Vanhoeve who swam 1 event, 14 year old TJ Brock who swam 3 events, 14 year old James Brown who swam 5 events, 14 year old Allison Chumbley who swam 6 events, 14 year old Kendra Gray who swam 3 events and 14 year old Hanna Wright who swam 2 events. In total the team scored 226 points at the meet.
The Aquatic Club will be gearing up for the US Swimming short course season that will begin in September. Youth that are interested in joining the team can call 1-800-880-3152 or 606-546-3152.
